
Vision Statement
Our vision is to provide our students the finest quality sequential Health and Physical Education curriculum and educational program possible. A program that is meaningful, challenging, and informative- integrating activities and the most current up to date information and research on trends and issues enabling our students to be able to seek and evaluate information, set goals, design and implement plans and to assess outcomes; resulting in students who choose to live an active, healthy lifestyle and avoid behaviors that are adverse to interactive instructional format that includes the student, teacher, school personnel, family, community members and others.
Department goals
- To encourage and foster students to accept responsibility for their learning.
- To provide situation, activities, and opportunities for students to practice and develop health and wellness enhancing skills.
- To promote the students development of teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, and communication skills.
- To engage students in research, problem solving, goal-setting, critical thinking, and decision-making activities to promote and enhance knowledge related to health and wellness.
- To foster students understanding, tolerance, and respect for themselves and others.
- To provide students with opportunities and activities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
- To provide and promote opportunities for students to acquire the knowledge and skills to develop- and encourage the implementation of- a lifelong personal health and wellness plan.
Student Goals
Students will:
- Be able to accept responsibility for their learning.
- Demonstrate the ability to gather, evaluate, and communicate in both verbal, written and multimedia formats, information on health promotion and disease prevention concepts.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills and tactics to enhance health and develop positive health behaviors.
- Demonstrate the ability to assess, goal set, plan and implement initiatives to promote and enhance health and wellness.
- Demonstrate competency in a variety of movement forms and activities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety regulations and strategy in a variety of activities.
- Develop a personal plan which promotes physical fitness, wellness, and reduces health risks.
